Within the marketplace, there are many diverse vocational qualifications aimed at Information Technology (IT) personnel, however, these are usually biased towards a specific product, hardware, software, or business need. The Diploma in Information Technology is a qualification which merges practical of real world problems, with theoretical business models. This will produce and provide the public/private sectors of the nation with world-class Computer and System Analysts, and Management Information Specialists.

The Objectives of the Diploma in Information Technology programme are as follows:

  1. To offer in-depth training for students who are aspiring to become professionals in the field of Information Technology.
  2. To offer research opportunities for students with well-equipped computer laboratories and other research facilities.
  3. To train Diploma graduates to apply their skills in solving problems in health insurance, pension schemes, risk management, and other problems associated with the industry, e-commerce, and e-business, computer network, education, etc.
  4. To provide adequate content training that will enable students to partnership and start business on their own that will lead to a reduction in unemployment in the country.
  5. To produce graduates who can contribute to the country’s development needs in research institutions and industry.

Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)/West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE)

i. Passes [(A – D)/ (A1 – D7)] in Mathematics, English language, and Science (Integrated/ Core Science)

ii. In addition, passes [(A – D)/ (A1 – D7)] in any two of the following elective subjects: Engineering Science, Physics, Chemistry, Elective Mathematics

General Certificate of Education (GCE)

Five credit passes at ‘O’ Level including English and Mathematics
Four or more passes in Ordinary Technician Diploma (OTD).
Note: Candidates with strong Advanced Level passes in two subjects including Mathematics or Physics may be considered.

Technician Certificate

Passes in three core (English Language, Mathematics, and Science) and any three relevant elective subjects in GES/NABPTEX Certificate II Core Subjects Examination.

Mature Applicants

Applicants may be considered on mature learners status if they satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Must be at least 25 years old
  2. Must have at least one year of experience in a related field

iii. Must pass an entrance examination and a scheduled interview
