Course Description:

This 2-month certification course provides a comprehensive understanding of computer networking fundamentals, protocols, and security measures. Through interactive sessions and hands-on exercises, students will gain the necessary skills to design, implement, and manage efficient and secure computer networks.

Week 1: Introduction to Computer Networks
– Overview of computer networks and their importance
– Network components and their functions
– Network topologies and architectures

Week 2: Network Protocols
– TCP/IP protocol suite
– IP addressing and subnetting
– DHCP and DNS

Week 3: Local Area Networks (LANs)
– Ethernet and IEEE 802.3 standards
– LAN switches and VLANs
– Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)

Week 4: Wide Area Networks (WANs)
– Overview of WAN technologies (leased lines, MPLS, etc.)
– Introduction to routing protocols (RIP, OSPF)
– Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)

Week 5: Network Security
– Fundamentals of network security
– Firewalls and intrusion detection systems
– Virtual LANs (VLANs) and Access Control Lists (ACLs)

Week 6: Network Address Translation (NAT) and Port Address Translation (PAT)
– NAT and PAT concepts
– Configuration and troubleshooting

Week 7: Wireless Networks
– Wireless LAN standards (802.11a/b/g/n/ac)
– Wi-Fi security and encryption
– Wireless access points and controllers

Week 8: Network Troubleshooting and Management
– Common network issues and their resolution

Note: Each week consists of two class sessions.
